EVE Online’s CSM 7 took office earlier this month on April 4th, and the Council of Stellar Management is now officially in business. Today, the members of the CSM have released a letter outlining their plans and philosophies for the future. They first take the opportunity to announce their CSM officer choices, revealing Seleene as the CSM Chairman, Trebor Daehdoow as Vice-Chairman, Two Step as the CSM Secretary, and Hans Jagerblitzen as Vice-Secretary.

The letter then takes a moment to address the upcoming CSM 7 summit, which will be taking place between May 30th and June 1st. The CSM members note that “the summit will be a major opportunity to provide community input as CCP develops [its] plans for the Winter Expansion,” and they encourage players to make their voices heard. But how? Well, the letter states that “one thing that CSM 7 will be doing differently than past CSMs is directly communicating with the players as much as possible” through a variety of media, including in-game chat, the CSM member blog, Twitter, and monthly Town Hall meetings, the first of which will be taking place in-game on May 19th. So get out there, players. Now’s your chance to make your voices heard and to shape the future of the EVE Online galaxy.

TERA collector’s edition gets unboxed

April 27th, 2012

If you’re a big enough fan of TERA to pre-order the collector’s edition, you probably can’t wait to get your hands on it and look at what’s inside. But maybe you can’t wait on a very literal level — you have to see what’s in that box right now. You’re in luck, as the collector’s edition has been unboxed by the fine folks at Curse, giving you a chance to see (if not handle) the bonus additions before the game’s full launch.

So what’s contained therein? You probably know already if you pre-ordered: a map, a handsome box, a compass, and of course, the game itself. But there are lots of specifics to cover, like the quality of the extra little collectibles. So if you’re in the literally-cannot-wait crowd, click on past the break to see what it’s like to open up a new copy of the game before you can do so in real life.

Final Fantasy XIV launches patch 1.22

Feel as if the last major Final Fantasy XIV patch just had too much to absorb at once? Well, you’re going to be a bit stuck today if that’s the case because patch 1.22 has just gone live and brought with it another host of improvements, updates, and changes. The good news is that this patch doesn’t contain the same number of system changes as the previous patch, but that’s because of the sheer amount of new content included.

The patch adds another four ranks to the Grand Companies, another set of quests, the new Garuda battle, the first of the hamlet defense points, and more besides. Players will also be able to obtain new items from crafting, gathering, and victory in the Garuda fight, and they’ll be able to see the first hints of what will happen to the world as the era draws to a close. Servers are expected to be back online later tonight, and players will no doubt have plenty to explore once they can log in again.

April 24th, 2012

Well, it’s officially official. En Masse Entertainment is launching its long-awaited TERA MMO on May 1st in North America. A posting on the game’s website confirms the date, and it also mentions both standard and collector’s edition offerings, the contents of which will be revealed in February.

In the meantime, En Masse is accepting beta applications, and the company also promises “lots more in store” for the month of January.

TERA was originally developed by Bluehole Studio; the title launched in Korea in early 2011. The game is a high fantasy MMORPG focused around action combat and featuring an endgame political system.

[Update: Frogster has also announced that the EU version of TERA will be available on May 3rd.]

Final 400,000 Annual Pass Mists of Pandaria beta invites sent out

Blizzard has just revealed that the final wave of Annual Pass Mists of Pandaria beta invites has been sent out to subscribers. Bashiok says that this wave of invites concludes the series inviting those who got early beta access as part of their year commitment to WoW. Players can still apply for the Annual Pass and get beta access as well, but it remains to be seen if that happens immediately or during another wave.

Check your email and get downloading, you scamps, you.

400,000 beta invites sent out, all Annual Pass subscribers invitedWe’ve sent the remaining 400,000 Annual Pass beta invites last night, which concludes the entirety of those who have signed up for the offer thus far. Of course the Annual Pass offer is still available, providing those who sign up for a year of World of Warcraft with a special in-game mount, a beta invite for Mists of Pandaria, and a digital copy of Diablo III. From here on out we’ll be continuing to invite anyone else who signs up for the Annual Pass.

See you in Pandaria!

source

Not without controversy, many players expressed fear and were upset when all of the 1.2 million subscribers of the Annual Pass were not invited to the Mists beta the first week it opened up. Now, about a month later, all 1.2 million subscribers have invites. There are still the same four servers for beta testing, but do not expect that to change — in fact, keeping the number of servers manageable and always full of players to run dungeons, test content, and give feedback.

I’ll be the first to admit that I did not think Blizzard could pull off 1.2 million beta invites in a month. Quite unexpected.

There’s no shortage of players waiting eagerly to jump into Guild Wars 2 beta testing this weekend, but that’s still several days away. It’s very possible that you really need a steady shot of Tyria a little earlier than that. Fortunately for you, there are options open as the community team pushes interaction in a big way. The game’s Facebook page is the center of a rather art-centric promotion: As the page nears half a million Likes, the team is releasing a new piece of art for every 10,000 new fans.

Not your cup of tea? That’s all right, as the team has also set up a Pinterest page to show off the best game-related fan projects. There are also new boards set up in the official forums where you can show off screenshots of each race, whether you’re opting for the diminutive Asura or the towering Norn. It’s a good chance for everyone to get involved in the Guild Wars 2 community before the weekend gets underway, even if it won’t make the test start any faster.

RIFT’s patch 1.8: Infernal Dawn goes live

April 18th, 2012

If you need some RIFT USA gold, please click here.

Maelforge and Laethys better be watching their backs because RIFT’s patch 1.8: Infernal Dawn is now live, and players are now able to head into the eponymous Infernal Dawn raid to lay the smack down on the pair of dragon-gods. On top of that, the patch will be ringing in a new world event known as the War of the Wanton Maw, which will presumably involve players fighting back against Maelforge’s Wanton cult and Laethys’ Golden Maw.

If you’re a less combative type, don’t worry. Infernal Dawn is also bringing some more relaxing activities in the form of two new tradeskills. Those looking to spend a calm day on the water can bait a hook and spend an afternoon fishing, while those who want to rough it in the great outdoors can craft food and shelter with the new survival skill. For the full details on what this monumental patch is bringing to the game, just head on over to the official forums to check out the patch notes yourself. Oh, and if you’re curious about what you’re going up against, just click on past the cut for a look at Maelforge and Laethys in the official Infernal Dawn trailer.

EVE Online streamlines the process of figuring out who’s crippling your ship

April 18th, 2012

If you want to buy some EVE iskor EVE item, please click here.

you’re playing EVE Online, you are going to lose a ship sooner or later. It’s as inevitable as the tides. Sometimes you’ll be outnumbered and outgunned, and while that can be frustrating, there’s no real shame in it. But when you’re having your ship locked in place by an attacker you can’t see and you don’t actually know what’s happening, that is a different matter. It’s particularly infuriating, and it’s something that the game’s next update is aiming to fix.

Starting with the next patch, the new Effects Bar will show a quick overview of all the effects currently in place on your ship as well as the source of same. So if there are two people attacking you, an icon will pop up, and you’ll be able to target and counterattack appropriately rather than fumble through more clumsy interface methods.

TERA is soldiering on toward its May 1st North American street date. En Masse Entertainment, the game’s American publisher, has quite a few features lined up to distract you from the brouhaha going on outside the game’s lush fantasy world, and the firm has updated its website accordingly.

You’ll find info on TERA’s staged invasions, public quests, and economic system archived in the lengthy new post. The update also recaps the game’s reputation system, its dungeon roster, and a few of the more interesting class tweaks to boot. Head to the official TERA site for all the goods.

Diablo III punches things up with a new Monk video and the end of beta

Diablo III is still putting together more previews as the game ramps up for its launch on May 15th. The latest reveal is for the Monk, a melee class that takes a very different approach from the already revealed Barbarian. Rather than attacking with massive weapons and overpowering rage, the Monk uses careful combo attacks, swift movements, and inner energy. Unleashing a Monk’s spiritual power after a long chain of melee attacks can produce all sorts of effects, from area damage to dashing out of combat quickly.

This reveal coincides with the announcement that the Diablo III beta will be coming to a close on Tuesday, May 1st. Character information will be wiped at that time, and players will be able to post on the official forums only in the event that they have pre-purchased the game or they have an active account for another Blizzard game. If the Monk reveal makes you anxious to play one and you’re in the beta, you’d better get on that quickly or be prepared to wait for launch.

A Rakghoul plague has broken out across the galaxy of SWTOR

Citizens of Star Wars: The Old Republic are advised to steer clear of the the planet Tatooine to avoid infection from a Rakghoul virus outbreak.

A ship carrying infected passengers crashed in the northeast quadrant of the Dune Sea; quarantine teams have been dispatched to the local interplanetary space port to prevent the spread of the disease. Please, avoid all infected citizens at all costs! It is possible for you to carry the the virus yourself. If you are infected and attempt to flee the planet Tatooine, you will be fired upon for the safety of all Republic citizens.

At this time, the disease is contained to one planetary system; however, our advice is to avoid travel in major space stations and other areas with travelers who may be coming from the Tatooine system.

We will keep you informed of further developments as they unfold. May the Force be with you, and watch the official Imperial holonet broadcast after the break.

We strongly believe that along with the new 1.2 Update, Bioware also pushed their acclaimed Dynamic Events system. First of all, you’ll notice a new addition to the Fleet – a News Terminal – where 2 commentators give you live event updates.

These announcers tell us about an Rakghoul infestation that’s currently “live” on Tattoine..and guess what, when you get there – it really is. Once you get there, you’ll notice many quarantine troopers and some ‘infected’ running about. Further investigation shows the presence of 2 World Bosses: Urtagh (1.2 million health) and Trapjaw.
