Fresh off a successful attempt to sell graphics cards for virtual currency, CCP Games is mulling over additional in-game sales options in EVE Online for real-life merchandise. Senior Producer Jon Lander said that this will be the beginning of a trend: “It was an interesting experiment and one we’re going to follow up.”

The studio recently made 100 Nvidia graphics cards available to players in the game for 20 Plex apiece and sold out of them in two minutes. In addition to items like graphics cards, CCP is looking into ways to create and sell EVE Online merchandise.

“We need to just look at what the right opportunities are now,” Lander said. “We’ve got lots of people beavering away trying to work out what the right thing to do is.”

Due to players’ ability to buy and sell Plex for other in-game goods, Lander reports that 25% of EVE Online players are able to enjoy the game for free.

Diablo 3 Forum Watch: Could We Find More Like That?!

May 28th, 2012

If I were to provide a list of all the good threads in our Diablo III forums of late, that post would take days to write and hours to read… at which point I’d have to start over again, in painting-the-Brooklyn-bridge style to cover the 5000 more posts made since I began writing the previous one. So don’t consider this a best of; just a sample of some good reads that are active right now. These are mostly from the Diablo 3 community forum, but you might find posts more relevant to your interests in the Diablo 3 strategy forums, where there are dozens of new threads every day in all the class forums, Hardcore, Stats/Theorycrafting, etc.

swayzesghost started one of the funnier threads I’ve seen since release in which fans are complaining about and celebrating the maddening and yet somehow enjoyable way the Followers repeat the same few lines of dialogue over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Why? Because that’s how we do it in Kingsport!
Kaeros started a thread that hit upon a few issues I’ve been thinking about since release. Is the Auction House the source of all Diablo 3′s item problems? The extreme scarcity of legendaries makes sense if you assume Bliz meant them to be super-rare so they wouldn’t immediately clog the AH. And the GAH is behind many of the difficulty complaints, since as soon as a player gets into NM and then Hell, it’s easier to farm gold for an hour and buy a weapon that’s vastly better than anything you’d ever find or craft at your level. Also, you can buy high quality gems and items for a lot less gold than it costs to train the Blacksmith/Jeweler, much less roll and reroll to get the item you want.
On that issue, Mrjones wants to know if you think the Auction House is cheating? I wouldn’t say it’s “cheating” since it’s not against any game rules, but it’s certainly a very good way to corrupt (or accelerate) your play experience, since you can so easily obtain items that will push your characters well out of the designed DPS/exp/difficulty curve. I have personally bought and sold nothing in the GAH post-release, and done very minimal self-twinking, since I’m trying to see how the actual game balance and difficulty curve works as I level up self-found characters. Yes, I’ll probably regret not racking up easy millions during these early days of economic chaos. Hell, I already regret that Azzure is doing so, since he keeps ****ing telling me about his millions in profits.
All that said, I think we can all agree that the RMAH is a better funding method than having to pay a monthly fee for D3 would have been… right?
Marshmallow started an informative thread to talk about rare and random events in Diablo III. There are so many unusual and odd ones in Acts One and Two, before you get that sense of rushingtothefinish you got in D2, where Acts 3 and 4 seem to lack the care and variation and bonus features (and destructibles) that filled the first two, much-more-polished acts.
Yovargus started a thread for everyone to share their favorite monsters from Diablo III. Lots of different monsters named, including Grotesques, Treasure Goblins, and those guys with one really long subterranean arm you get on the Act Three surface.

Become a master chef on the shores of Pandaria

May 28th, 2012

If you want to buy some Diablo 3 Gold USA Diablo 3 Powerleveling please click here.

The people of Pandaria take their food almost as seriously as their beer. Those of us who like to keep up on our cooking skill in World of Warcraft have our work cut out for us in the upcoming expansion. Rather than simply leveling to the skill cap and calling it a day, the process has become a little more involved: Pandaria offers six different cooking specializations, or Ways, which can eventually all be completed by one person.

The latest Mists beta patch has implemented a pair of awards for those who complete all six: the achievement Master of Pandaren Cooking and the title Master of the Ways to go with it. Move over, Savior of Azeroth. Being a master chef is where it’s at.

Everything you need to know about The Secret World

May 27th, 2012

null

If you want to buy aion kinah, aion gold, aion Powerleveling, please click here.

So what’s all this hullabaloo about The Secret World? Let’s start with the basics.

The Secret World is a new MMORPG by Funcom, the studio that brought you Age of Conan, and way back when, Anarchy Online. It’s also the brainchild of one Ragnar Tornquist, familiar to adventure gamers the world over thanks to Dreamfall and The Longest Journey. Like those seminal titles, The Secret World seeks to conjure an immersive, fantastical realm of myth, magic, and in some cases, horror. Unlike the adventures of April Ryan, though, The Secret World is your story, and it takes place in the video game equivalent of the real world (not to mention Hell, portions of a hollow Earth, and many other mythological settings).

There’s an undeniable Lovecraftian influence, there are zombies and assault rifles, and there’s a three-faction setup that asks players to join forces with noted secret societies like the Templars and the Illuminati (as well as the less-familiar Dragons). Did we mention battleground PvP, a Minecraft-inspired crafting system, and skill-based progression mechanics that depart from traditional MMORPG classes and levels in favor of player-made builds (drawn from a pool of nearly 600 distinct abilities)?

As you can see, Funcom is throwing everything at the wall, and luckily for you, Massively has been keeping tabs on the game’s development for a number of years now. We’ve also managed to spend quite a bit of time in the beta of late. Click past the cut for a roundup of our best coverage, including guides, impressions, interviews, and basically everything you want to know about The Secret World.

Blizzard talks Diablo III hotfixes, delay of real-money auction house

May 26th, 2012

null

In a post on the official Diablo III forums earlier today, Community Manager Nethaera addressed a few of the concerns that have been brought up in the game’s momentous first week.

Neth first linked to an up-to-date list of hotfixes that have been implemented thus far. For the spoiler-wary among you, be warned that if you haven’t completed the game on Normal difficulty, some of the hotfixes might be spoilerific. Now that you’re thoroughly warned that there may be spoilers, head on over to the list of hotfixes if you dare. Neth also advised players that additional server maintenance will be required in time and that there’s a game patch inbound for sometime next week.

She also took the time to address the real-money auction house. Although Neth states that the service is “coming soon,” it’s been delayed due to post-launch difficulties. The team apparently needs “a bit more time to iron out the existing general stability and gameplay issues” before the real-money auction house is ready for launch. Players shouldn’t expect the auction house to be ready in May despite initial plans for it to go online on the 22nd, and there wasn’t a solid date to look forward to.

Diablo III Becomes Fastest-Selling PC Game Ever

May 25th, 2012

If you want to buy some Diablo 3 Gold USA Diablo 3 Powerleveling please click here.

I am not surprised when I see the numbers at all. My guess was that Diablo 3 would sell at least 4 million copies day 1 so I was not that wrong in my prediction. In the first day Blizzard sold 3.5 million copies of Diablo 3 and this did not include the WoW Annual pass with its 1.2 million subscribers. One week later and there are more than 6.3 million people playing Diablo 3 and it is still growing. The game placed itself as the fastest selling PC game ever and Amazon’s most pre ordered PC game ever.

Diablo 3 Account Hacking and Security Issues

May 25th, 2012

If you want to buy some Diablo 3 Gold USA Diablo 3 Powerleveling please click here.

Users reporting that their accounts have been hacked and their items stolen continue to fly forth. Dozens (hundreds?) of fans have reported that their accounts have been compromised and their gold and items stripped, presumably by hackers who are hording the loots for the impending start of the RMAH when your labor can become their profit.

Hacked accounts aren’t anything new to online gaming, and certainly not in Blizzard games. I did a quick search and the top return was an eHow.com page about what to do after your WoW account has been hacked. Their first point was to scan your system for a key logger, which is how the VAST majority of account hacks occur.

I am not a computer security professional, but I heard from literally hundreds of fans who had been “hacked” in the D2 days, interacting with them via our old Warnings section, and I can not think of a single person who contacted me (often mistakenly believing we *were* Blizzard) hadn’t been tricked into revealing their password or ripped off via a key logger, almost always inserted into their system via social engineering. That or via a trojan, as they tried to install maphack or some other program they’d been told was a great way to cheat at the game. (Like casinos and Wall Street, scammers almost always use your greed against you.)

Unsurprisingly, most people who get ripped off want someone to blame, and since they don’t realize they were the cause of their own undoing, they look for external problems, ideally technical ones with Blizzard’s servers. The hot rumor flying around is that hackers are somehow gaining access to accounts via the “last game joined” list, or are victimizing people they meet in public games. This could be true, but Blizzard has offered several denials of that possibility.

Tex Murphy gets a Kickstarter page for Project Fedora

if you need some maple story mesos, maple story item, please click here.

The rumored Tex Murphy Kickstarter has been confirmed, to the tune of $216,000 (out of $450k as of this writing). That’s how much creators Chris Jones and Aaron Conners have put together already to make the long-awaited “Project Fedora,” the next in the cult classic series of full motion video sci-fi noir titles.

You can get a copy of the (eventual) game just by backing at the price of $15, and there are lots of other rewards for higher payments, including a collector’s edition, new commentary for the old Tex Murphy games, and even the chance to beta test and be in the game itself. The creators say that the game will have full-motion video, but it will also include a 3D game world, with branching paths of story to follow. As Tex says in the wild Kickstarter video, “it’s hat-in-hand time,” so go over and give if you want to get in early.

Newcastle University neuroscientists use video game for stroke rehab

May 20th, 2012

If you want to buy aion kinah, aion gold, aion Powerleveling, please click here.

Video games aren’t neuroscience, unless they’re helping stroke victims recover physical function in a scientific, medical capacity: then they’re totally neuroscience. The above video shows off Circus Challenge, an action game from Newcastle University and Limbs Alive Ltd designed to help stroke patients regain motor control of their weakened hands and arms.

Circus Challenge uses “next-gen” motion controllers – not the Wii, as other rehab systems have – to have patients fling pies at clowns, juggle, dive and perform other Big Top-inspired feats, with the difficulty progressing as motor skills improve. Newcastle received £1.5 million from the Health Innovation Challenge Fund for its project, and hopes to use the funds to provide remotely monitored, at-home therapy for stroke patients.

Aside from all the philanthropy and innovation in the Circus Challenge project, we think the game design is pretty pretty as well. Check it out for yourself up top.

GameStop earnings call adds to Guild Wars 2 release date speculation

May 18th, 2012

null

If you want to buy SWTOR Credits, Star Wars:The Old Republic Credits,SWTOR Gold,Buy SWTOR Gold, please click here.

Since players aren’t tremendously happy with ArenaNet’s answer of “when it’s ready” every time the question of the Guild Wars 2 release date comes up, any hint of further clarification is something to be prized. As a game retailer, dates are the sort of thing that come up in GameStop’s earnings calls. Covering the Q1 conference call released today, Gamespot has CFO Robert Lloyd stating that Guild Wars 2 has been bumped out of the current quarter, putting its release sometime after July. It’s worth noting that as of this posting, GameStop’s online listing still had the Guild Wars 2 release date as June 26th.

As has been repeated countless times by ArenaNet devs, no information should be treated as official unless it’s directly from them. Don’t let that stop you from pulling out your favorite tinfoil hat and cooking up some speculations, though.

Spirit Tales launching Crisis of Jade Forest next week

May 18th, 2012

null

If you want to buy some wow gold or wow item, please click here.

It’s really hard to imagine anything in the saccharine world of Spirit Tales being properly termed a crisis, but the game’s newest update is aiming in that direction. The Crisis of Jade Forest goes live on May 23rd, giving players a chance to tackle an extra-difficult version of the normal Jade Forest area with extra boss-enriched goodness. Successful players have plenty of motivation, however, as the reward for completion involves a chest that could contain items normally reserved for the game’s item mall.

Groups of up to five players can enter the battle once per day, which fills the area with deadly monsters and 10 special bosses. Successfully defeating all of these bosses will grant the chance to earn both rewards that would normally cost real money as well as other little trinkets. it’s also meant to be a great way to level up, so if you’re already in the open beta, you may want to consider a look at the dungeon.
