Group Finder

- Leaving a Group Finder group where all other members have disconnected will no longer cause players to be temporarily locked out of Group Finder.

- Flashpoints and Operations will no longer occasionally reset and eject players who have recently used Group Finder for a replacement member.

PvP

- Ballistic and Knockback effects no longer occasionally de-sync the character’s location, which could cause characters to not interact properly with the world (such as being able to be hit by melee attacks when the character appeared to be out of range).

Diablo3 Auction House Turns Players Into Slaves?

If you’d like to read a wildly-biased rant against the business practices of the Diablo III Real Money Auction House, you’re in luck, since one has just popped up. The author structures it like an unethical lawyer offering a vicious closing argument; it’s close enough to the truth that you can’t point to any outright lies or errors, but he shades everything away from objective reality, puts the worst possible interpretation on all events and motivations, discards all mitigating facts, etc.

For bonus points the comments are full of haters who lap it up and shout at anyone who points out some of the dubious claims. A quote to give you a taste of things, and you can read the rest if you feel the need. Thanks to Paul for the tip.

In other games, where black market trade is rife, bots are obviously frowned upon. In D3, where there’s a minimum price for gold — where Blizzard always gets at least 15% of every transaction — bots don’t matter. They can’t ruin the economy — they just stand to make Blizzard more money. The best bit, with regard to bots and gold farmers, is that they’ve known from the start that the RMAH would come — and so they’ve saved up billions of gold and awesome magic items for one truly epic payday.

Blizzard even gets its pound of flesh from quitters: If you quit, of course you’re going to sell all of your items on the RMAH. Furthermore, Blizzard has said that, in the future, you’ll be able to sell entire characters on the RMAH.

…Finally, just to tip you over the edge, think about this: What if Blizzard itself started selling gold and items on the RMAH? The FAQ states that “at this time” Blizzard doesn’t do this — but in the future, who knows? The Diablo 3 auction house is anonymous — the seller is never listed — and so Blizzard could easily sell gold and items without anyone noticing. What if Blizzard decided to sell special items on the RMAH? Uber-fans of games and franchises will pay almost anything for unique or exclusive items.

Ironically, the Auction House remains one of the more popular features of the game, with lots of disenchanted players spending more time in the AH than in gameplay. This despite the fact that (IMHO) the AH has done more than anything to ruin the gameplay experience for thousands of fans who played too much, too fast, too easily, thanks to too good of equipment (courtesy of the GAH) and have thus already grown bored with the game.

Newest World of Warcraft novel gets a release date and cover preview

If you want to buy some wow gold or wow item, please click here.

Jaina Proudmoore is one of the biggest lore figures in World of Warcraft despite the fact that her character history largely consists of trying to make reasonable compromises and being completely ignored. It’s no surprise that she’s the star of the newest novel based on World of Warcraft considering her prominence in the lore and her relationship to the war between the game’s factions. Tides of War is written by Christie Golden and will be released in late August, setting the stage for Mists of Pandaria later this year.

While Jaina has always tried to broker a peace between the Alliance and the Horde, the novel’s plot revolves around Warchief Garrosh Hellscream launching an attack against Jaina’s home in Theramore, demonstrating the same legendary thinking that’s alienated several of the Horde’s allies. Whether or not the erstwhile diplomat will be able to retain any hopes of a peaceful resolution remains to be seen, but with Mists of Pandaria promising to focus on the conflict between the two factions, it seems likely that players will be looking at silencing the last and loudest voice for peace.

Are you looking forward to playing a Cathar in Star Wars: The Old Republic? Or are you looking forward to playing a different species? According to the latest round of community answers for the game, the Cathar might be one of many new species unlocked if they perform well once players get their hands on the new race. Certainly there are some other species that players are clamoring for as well, and the team is investigating other options.

The answers also go into the details regarding how a tiebreaker is determined in the game’s Voidstar matches; a tie goes to whichever team cleared the most objectives in the least amount of time. If none of this round of answers puts your burning questions to rest, there’s always hope for next week; head on over to the official question thread and post it for next week’s questions.

The newest patch for Star Wars: The Old Republic is just around the corner. Specifically, it’s aimed at next Tuesday, following an extended maintenance period on the servers. So with the fruits of the design team’s labor on the close horizon, it might be interesting to get a better insight into the design process with this week’s community question-and-answer session, which includes a walkthrough of the process leading to the design of a new armor set.

For those wondering about how loot is randomly rolled, the answers also contain a detailed breakdown of the process for determining what an enemy will drop. There’s also confirmation that players can expect more character slots in the future, which is certainly good news for any players already feeling the pinch from recent character transfers. Take a look at the full list of answers, and as always, you can submit your questions for next week on the official thread.

Final Fantasy XI’s fifth expansion, Seekers of Adoulin, announced

Final Fantasy XI players have been waiting and hoping for a new expansion for more than half a decade now. All of those hopes have come true at last with the announcement of Seekers of Adoulin, a new expansion taking players to the far western shores of Vana’diel.

Seekers of Adoulin promises players new areas, new adventures, and of course new jobs. The only known new job at this time is Geomancer, which appears to be a support-style mage job with a variety of enfeebling and buffing abilities. Notably, its buffs appear to be centered on specific locations, and its enfeebling effects cannot be resisted by enemies, a trait that would make the job extremely powerful in the current environment.

A short trailer has also been released with the announcement. Curiously, the official site does not list the PlayStation 2 among the expansion’s supported platforms. That shouldn’t stop longtime players on every system from regarding the new trailer with excitement — it’s the cap to an announcement that’s been a very long time coming indeed.

Patch 1.0.3 released for Diablo III complete with an interesting new bug

The pseudo-MMO nature of Diablo III makes it unsurprising that the development team is still hard at work with polishing patches. The newest patch, 1.0.3, has just been released, bringing with it several adjustments to classes and individual boss battles. It also expands the range for potential high-level item drops, allowing players a better chance at seeing top-end items without reaching Inferno Act IV. Along with the usual bug fixes, it should be all good news, right?

Unfortunately, it looks like the patch has brought an odd glitch along for some players — namely, a glitch preventing them from gaining any experience. Player testing seems to reveal that changing your password fixes the issue and allows you to gain experience once again, and the issue is only affecting players with a digital version instead of the game discs. While no official word has come down from Blizzard as of yet, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the issue hotfixed in the near future.

Embers of Caerus videos cover player stats and dynamic ecology

Indie sandbox MMO Embers of Caerus wrapped up its kickstarter feature week with a pair of developer videos covering player stats and something called “dynamic ecology.” That sounds like a 400-level college course if you ask us.

Embers of Caerus has 10 player stats that are divided into two categories: physical and mental. These stats aren’t just linebackers for your DPS quarterback; they’re highly important to the game’s many sub-systems. For example, resilience is vital to help fight off infection and parasites. It’s interesting to note that while stats increase as players engage in related activities, they will also decrease over time if neglected.

The devs say that the dynamic ecology system is “one of the most ambitious sides to the project.” Dynamic ecology enables the world to be alive and changing, particularly in respect to creatures. While Ultima Online attempted to do this and failed, the Embers of Caerus team is confident that it can succeed due to lessons learned. There will be few if any static spawns, and each kill will matter a lot more than as in other MMOs.

Check out the two lengthy videos after the jump!

Special Diablo 3 items available for Mists of Pandaria Collector’s Edition buyers

June 18th, 2012

null

The dedicated Diablo III fans at, uh, Diablofans.com have unearthed some files for the forthcoming patch 1.0.3 that reveal a few neat in-game bonuses, presumably intended for purchasers of the Mists of Pandaria Collector’s Edition:
A new Feat of Strength, Panda-monium, which is achieved by registering a copy of the MoP Collector’s Edition.
A new banner sigil and accent combo featuring a panda face and some pandaren-style linework.
A pair of black demon wings, along with the string “SpecialGiftWingsBuff_name – Collectors Edition Buff.” Unlike the banner options and the Feat of Strength, there’s some speculation that this may not be a MoP CE reward, but the string at least raises that possibility.
If you’re interested in extra items, you might want to consider buying the Collector’s Edition. While the details haven’t been announced yet, Wowhead recently found a quilen mount and pet that may be among the in-game CE bonuses.

Five Diablo III Wizard myths tested and debunked

June 17th, 2012

If you want to buy some Diablo 3 Gold USA Diablo 3 Powerleveling please click here.

When building your Diablo III Wizard, you have two main schools of thought on weapon type: use a high-damage two handed weapon with low attack speed or use a one-handed weapon and offhand and stack as much attack speed as possible. Items with increased attack speed on them greatly increase damage per second on paper, but there is some confusion in the Wizard community as to which spells are affected by it. Some players contend that Blizzard and Hydra are unaffected by attack speed; others report that channeled spells ignore both critical hit chance and attack speed.

To find out the truth, I bought a two-handed weapon with 0.9 attack speed and a one-handed weapon with 1.6, both with the same rated damage per second. I then tested every spell on the zombies at the start of Act 1 in hell mode dozens of times and checked the damage difference, finally adding attack speed rings and amulets and re-testing both weapons. For almost every spell, the one-handed setup dealt lower damage but hit more frequently, averaging to the same damage per second. But the story was a little different for Hydra, Blizzard, and channeled spells.

In this guide, I put five popular Diablo III Wizard myths to the test and discover the inner workings of Energy Armour, Hydra, Blizzard, Critical Mass, and other abilities.

Star Wars: The Old Republic explains mechanical questions in a new Q&A

If you want to buy SWTOR Credits, Star Wars:The Old Republic Credits,SWTOR Gold,Buy SWTOR Gold, please click here.

The latest community question-and-answer session for Star Wars: The Old Republic doesn’t answer any questions you may have about the server change kerfluffle. It does, however, answer a large variety of questions about mechanical changes and upcoming improvements to the game. If you’re wondering about acquiring your very own HK droid, for instance, you should know that the designers are currently thinking it’s going to involve a galaxy-wide quest, a level-50 character on one faction, a mid-level character on the other faction, and some different approaches to the game as a whole.

Most of the other answers are somewhat less far-reaching, such as the rationale behind limiting group finder flashpoints to instances within a player’s level range to avoid abuse. Players wondering about the fact that you can’t find certain sister stats on the same Enhancements (such as Critical Rating and Power) can also find an answer which breaks down how stats are grouped together and why obviously linked stats are kept separate. Players should take the time to examine the full list of answers, and add any new questions they may have to the official thread for next week.

Changes in administration for any game can leave players a bit rattled — and with a game like Champions Online that’s already seen several management changes, it’s even more disconcerting. That’s only one of the big takeaways from the game’s newest State of the Game address, which opens up with Rob Overmeyer outlining the game’s recent updates and announcing that he’s stepping down from his current role as executive producer (although he’s remaining with the game’s development staff).

Brad Stokan, the new executive producer, has enough in his portion of the letter that you might forget about the first half. He explains that the team is working on building new content updates around overall themes, with June’s major theme — in both story content and mechanical inclusions — being powered armor. This is going to continue with new Alerts and special events based around themes. He also teases that we may very well see superheroic vehicles in the game in the near future, giving players of Champions Online plenty to look forward to under new administration.

It’s going to take me an hour to make my new female pandaren, because they now have additional earring choices and even more hair embellishments: 5 earring options and 8 neon highlight options. The highlights change position according to your chosen hairstyle.

The hair and earring customizations are live in the MoP beta right now. Unfortunately, the button for the hair streaks has not been implemented yet, so currently you’re given a random color when you create a character.

Diablo III pulls trigger on NA real-money auction house

While Diablo III released weeks ago, Blizzard’s held off from launching the game’s controversial real-money auction house in North America for its own reasons. All must be good on the studio’s end, however, because the auction house has gone live in the game as of today.

Unlike the traditional in-game auction house, the real-money variant deals in actual currency (such as USD). Players can sell their hard-won goods for cash, which can then be either spent on the auction house, sent to their own personal PayPal accounts, or converted to Battle.net Balance credit.

The real-money auction house requires additional setup if the players have not attached a PayPal or authenticator to the account. Blizzard does take its cut, and business must be good: There are reports of items going for over $200 already.
