Rounding off May will be the Fremennik Sagas. These will be a slightly new type of content – a mix of Dungeoneering and quests. They’re presented as a series of three replayable stories, Read more…

It’s that time of year again when denizens all across the realm partake in grandiose festivities so their sons may mature into staunch, hardy men. Yes, the Feast of Swords is upon us once again, kupo! This year, the blacksmiths of the Far East have trekked across vast oceans in order to share their knowledge with their comrades in the Middle Lands–and one of them was kind enough to grace us with a display of his longsword skills, kupo.
The Far Eastern blacksmith Shino was so taken aback by Cid’s sudden question of, “So, you’re a samurai too, are ya?” that he unconsciously nodded in assent. The other sword artisans who accompanied him had been so magnanimous as to boast that in addition to making swords Read more…

From The Nexon Team,
As part of our continuing live service of the game, game servers are occasionally taken offline. MapleStory is comprised of a complex series of computers, some which function as game servers, others as databases and more. Nexon uses every downtime to perform various activities such as routine server and network maintenance, game updates, or even firmware updates like you would on your router at home.
They hope that we can clarify what’s the difference between a Scheduled Maintenance, an Unscheduled Maintenance, and a Game Update to provide more information for our players. Read more…

rifting event settings. Their goal is to bring this event to our servers on a more regular basis, so that all of our players can have a chance to enjoy the different
kinds of content that Aion has to offer.
This week’s portion of the recurring rifting event continues until April 20, 2011 and will end at

Levels in Final Fantasy XIV are divided into two different values: One’s Physical Level and Class Rank. To gain Physical Levels, the player must acquire Experience Points by performing various actions (killing monsters, crafting an item, gathering, etc), which counts towards the total and is the same value for all classes. Leveling up the physical level nets the player attribute points and elemental points, which can be used to increase base stats (strength, vitality, mind, dexterity, intelligence and piety) and elemental affinity (ice, water, lightning, fire, wind, earth). Players may reassign part of his stat points every few hours.
As for Class Rank, each class has its own rank, akin to a job level, and each class must be leveled separately. To rank up, players must get Skill Points, which are often awarded together with experience points. Ranking up a class unlocks new skills, increase the player’s Action Points and is used to determine gear effectiveness, attribute caps, gatherers’ number of max gathering tries from a single node and his ability to gather from higher rank nodes and crafters’ ability to craft higher leveled items, which often have a minimum rank to attempt.

Generally, the most efficient way to gain Experience points with the intention to level up is Crafting or Gathering, as those activities wield more experience points than fighting monsters, and to earn skill points, crafters and gatherers need simply to do the same. Read more…

Not only are Nexon’s revenues on the way up with no sign of slowing, but the company’s famed “Nexon iNitiative” is already producing hearty results. Unlike the Dharma Initiative, the Nexon iNitiative is a force for good, as the company is funding promising indie developers and their pet projects. Last year, Antic Entertainment and one2tribe both received a chunk of the $1 million funding to make games that would be published worldwide by Nexon, and a similar program is underway for 2011.
Nexon’s in its 17th year and considers itself the most accomplished global provider of online games. Whether or not you agree with that statement, the fact that the company has over 30 titles under its belt in over 71 countries is impressive, and that’s not even looking at the way Nexon casually drops how many hundreds of millions of players check out its titles daily. “To break the mold, sometimes you have to start over,” says Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime. Apparently the monolithic development firm’s next MMO won’t be a World of Warcraft sequel, and In fact, the company expects the two titles to co-exist for a number of years.
“We’re really trying to leverage all the lessons we learned through the years. Some of which we were able to address in World of Warcraft and others that maybe because of the design decisions we’ve made, you just can’t address. So we’re kind of taking a step back with all that knowledge to make something that’s completely new and fresh,” Morhaime said yesterday while speaking at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas.
Specific details were nowhere to be found of course, but Morhaime did hint at the social aspects that Blizzard sees as defining characteristics for the future of gaming.

Death Knights saw a major change to the source of their powers long before Deathwing wrought havoc upon Azeroth. At the end of the Wrath of the Lich King, agents of the Ashen Verdict helped bring down the Lich King. A paladin killed in the initial wave of the final assault took over the wave of the Lich King. Death Knights did not see as many changes as other classes did in Wrath of the Lich King, but they still must know the changes in the game to fulfill the group roles.
The effects of blood and frost presence were changed. Blood presence now increase hit points and stamina. Frost presence increases the damage dealt by the character. Blizzard made no change to the function of unholy presence. Frost specialization increases weapon damage, and unholy still relies on increase a character’s haste rating to improve his damage. Haste ratings do more to effect dps done by melee characters than they have in the past. Read more…

The launch of Assault on Balaurea
The Elyos and Asmodians may not like one another very much, but they’re going to have to settle their differences — at least temporarily — to take on their mutual enemy in this update.
The Balaureans are the main threat, and while it’s not a great situation to be in, look on the bright side: thanks to them, Aion players are getting new zones, instances, pets, and even a shiny new level cap. Flight mechanics have been improved as well to help everyone take on the Balaureans.

When the news broke yesterday regarding the fatigue system in Final Fantasy XIV, it made virtually no one happy. Even the system’s defenders generally had an attitude of “it’s not all that bad,” and most players were up in arms over the very idea. But a day can make a lot of difference, and as it turns out, we didn’t quite have the clear picture of the fatigue system that we thought we did. The official translation from Square-Enix covers most of the same ground, but adds several important facts.
The two most salient points are the fact that the limiting factors are not time-based but value-based, and the fact that the “cooldown” on fatigue sets in as soon as a player starts doing something that won’t grant skill or experience points. There’s no word on whether or not this will be the case during time spent logged off, but it means that the much-loathed figures about how much time would be productive are not altogether correct. Take a look at the official translation, which should provide a much-needed balm for several angry Final Fantasy XIV fans.
