EVE Online:Incursion patch 1.6 has been Released

May 31st, 2011

From EVE Online CCP,

With this release of patch 1.6, EVE team are introducing the new CarbonUI framework into EVE. You shouldn’t see much difference – with this round of changes we have fixed the underlying code, not the user interface itself.

This step was made possible by the UI corification that happened last year. This project was a big engineering undertaking that you can read more about below, to pave the way for taking the EVE UI into the future.

Why CarbonUI?
The UI in EVE is somewhat dated by now, and so was the underlying code that handled the rendering. Read more…

RuneScape Easter Event – Battle with Evil Trees (22 – 25 April)

April 22nd, 2011

From Senior RuneScape Content Developer,

Runescape players will be able to choose their side in this traditional battle – spring or winter – by chopping down the rival season’s evil trees. All players will be able to chop down the wintry holly trees in order to help springtime emerge, while members will have the added option of felling hawthorn trees, to hold on to the bitter cold of winter. All of this tree chopping will be closely monitored by the Season Tree, the look of which will change between the seasons based on how many holly and hawthorn trees get chopped down.

Everyone who pitches in will earn this event’s cosmetic holiday reward; however, members will get the added option of giving theirs a useful function, by charging it with the ability to locate and teleport to RuneScape’s other evil trees. This works much like communing with a spirit tree, but can be done from anywhere. About a month after the Easter event Read more…

RIFT: River of Souls 1.1 Update Coming Soon

March 28th, 2011

Since the rifts first appeared, the undead have plagued Telara, a nightmare of reanimated flesh. Lately, however, the threat has grown even more terrible, as Death Rifts surge open all across the world, pouring forth walking corpses like never before. This calamity will shake Telara to its core and tax the limits of Ascended endurance, yet it is only the first of many to follow… assuming the defenders can throw back Telara’s foes.

Soon the Endless Court will launch an unprecedented mass invasion. The most terrifying servants of Regulos will lead these hordes into battle: liches, ettins, gravemakers. Alsbeth herself will march through every region of the world, raising dread champions to sow the discord for which she is named. Old enemies will rise and fight for oblivion alongside flesh-crafted colossi from the Plane of Death, until the offensive presses on toward Stillmoor.

Every last Ascended must battle Alsbeth’s forces. While veteran heroes will bear the worst of the conflict, even novice Guardians and Defiant can do their part, confront dire foes, and reap rich rewards as the war unfolds over the course of a week. Read more…

Impact of Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami On FFXIV

March 15th, 2011

All the world of people doubtlessly heard of the massive earthquake that hit Japan on 11,March. Our thoughts and good wishes go to any and all of our readers, and their friends and families, directly affected by the disaster. But it hits people in many ways, and it’s even reaching into the MMO sphere, with both Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV shutting down completely for at least a week of server.

While the servers for both games had been kept running briefly after the disaster, the massive power failures across Japan resulted in widespread shortages. The service is expected to be down for at least a week from today, and players will receive no bills for the month due to the interruption. Sony Online Entertainment has no games based out of the island nation, but it has also suspended billing for all players in the region and has pointed players to disaster relief centers. We can only hope that other companies follow suit where possible, as a tragedy of this scale demands a response.

Blizzard’s next MMOG “Titan” already playable

March 10th, 2011

Speaking with industry site Gamasutra, Blizzard COO Paul Sams said that the MMOG–which he did not reference by its code name–is already playable. The new massively multiplayer online game was code-named “Titan” as had been indicated by a purportedly leaked Blizzard release schedule. That schedule had the game arriving in the fourth quarter of 2013–over two years away.

“We’re playing it already. It is a total ball to play,” he said. “We think that the reach of that product is greater than anything that we’ve done before. We’re very excited about that. I believe that it’s the type of game that will have a very long life, much like World of Warcraft has.”

Sams went on to say that Blizzard hopes the new MMOG–rumored to have a first-person perspective–will eventually outgrow World of Warcraft, which he still believes has many more years in it. “The thing that we hope will happen is that it will not stop World of Warcraft, but we believe will eclipse it,” he said, before adding, “So, hopefully in 10, 15 and 20 years, Titan will still be growing strong and will have set a new mark in the industry for that type of product.” Read more…

RuneScape – Clan Updates: The Clan Camp

March 8th, 2011

The look and feel of the camp has been designed to give it a temporary appearance, much like a travelling circus. We achieved this by using canvas tents and structures built mainly from the wood found in the area.

As we wanted to make the new camp as accessible as possible for players, and to make it as obvious as we could when the player is inside the camp, we used the old path layout as a base and created three large entrances, plus a few smaller entrances as shortcuts into the camp, all of which is encompassed by a rope fence.

RuneScape March update schedule revealed

March 3rd, 2011

The month of March will see several game tweaks, and first up is the Elemental Workshop IV quest and the Artisan’s Workshop (which will bring an update to the game’s smithing skill). Bonus XP is coming as well, with an entire weekend devoted to leveling up twice as fast (or half as long, however you’d like to look at it). Either way, mark your calendars for March 11th through March 13th.

Jagex will be updating the Ring of Wealth, trolls and Trollheim visuals, and adding a new Clockwork Syringe quest that features “home insurance claims, a hazing interrogation, long drops, vengeful seagulls, Barrel Busters, and a boatload of zombio-mechanical madness,” according to a Jagex press release. Head to the official RuneScape website for further details. Read more…

How to Make Aion Kinah more easily?

February 18th, 2011

Know Your Enemy – Just as some mobs of the same level give different experience, mobs will also drop different loot. Humanoid creatures will drop coin in addition to loot and while the difference isn’t staggering in reward, the extra coin does make it worthwhile to choose your targets wisely if you happen to be out grinding for XP or kinah.

Also keep in mind that named mobs and Abyss mobs will drop better loot. I don’t advocate farming named mobs during peak hours of gaming, but if it’s a quiet day, hopping back to lower levels (a tier lower than what you currently play in works well if your solo farming) and hitting all the good named mobs is a easy way to pick up a little extra cash.
