Riot Games has revealed that the long-awaited League of Legends champion Ahri the Nine Tailed Fox will be coming in the very next patch. In addition to heralding the arrival of the new champion, the Ahri patch will introduce some major gameplay changes. In a new patch preview video, lead champion designer Morello and spotlight announcer Phreak discuss the biggest balance and gameplay changes coming in the next patch.

Twisted Fate’s attack range will be increased, and he’ll now be able to manually pick a target for his attack once he locks a card. This should prevent cards hitting the wrong target and make him better able to harass in a lane without leaving himself exposed. Tryndamere receives a much-needed nerf to his self-heal as he tends to have a full rage bar when he’s doing well in a lane and the heal ends up being much too powerful. The “perseverence” mastery in the utility tree is being removed and replaced with an old “strength of spirit” mastery that converts maximum mana into bonus health regeneration. With the removal of dodge runes, Phreak and Morello also discuss some new ones being added to make the game a bit more interesting.

Today’s Lord of the Rings Online dev diary brings players behind the scenes with the upcoming instance cluster, Ring of Isengard. This new update includes three small fellowships, one fellowship, and one raid, ensuring that there’s something for groups of every size. The team is working off the recent success of the instance cluster In Their Absence.

The team states that “[Ring of Isengard] is a return to the classic LotRO cluster model with In Their Absence’s added benefit of tiers.” The cluster puts a large focus on interacting with the environment, with the addition of ballistas, saw mills, and more. Sony’s hacking woes continue today, as intruders today have attempted — and, in some cases, succeeded — to access the giant corporation’s accounts. Chief Information Security Officer Philip Reitinger posted a letter on several SOE forums informing players that their accounts may have been compromised.

The good news is that less than 0.1% of Sony’s entire playerbase has been affected. The bad news is that that leaves around 33,000 SOE players — in addition to Sony Entertainment Network and PlayStation Network customers — whose accounts were hacked. Following the intrusion, Sony temporarily locked the accounts and is investigating the situation.

“Only a small fraction of these 93,000 accounts showed additional activity prior to being locked,” Reitinger said. He assured customers that credit card numbers were not leaked and that any purchases made during this intrusion will be restored. SOE customers with locked accounts will receive an email with instructions on how to validate their credentials and restore their service.

I won’t lie: The past few months have left me fairly disillusioned about playing an enhancement shaman. Nothing in Cataclysm will ever match the absolute horror that was the last patch of Wrath of the Lich King for enhancement. However, our total lack of scaling with secondary stats that aren’t mastery, horrific AOE DPS every patch, and our total lack of any form of worthwhile DPS cooldown have all been ingredients in the lukewarm dish that is enhancement. If this was Iron Chef: America, even Alton Brown would be hard pressed to make us sound good.

Thankfully, the 4.3 PTR is up, and with it comes some changes to enhancement shaman that have me excited.

Flametongue Weapon no longer increases spell damage. It now increases all non-physical damage done by the wielder by 5%. Wind Shear’s base cooldown has been adjusted to 15 seconds, up from 6 seconds. Improved Lava Lash now causes Lava Lash to spread a Flame Shock debuff from the target to up to 4 nearby targets. This excludes crowd-controlled targets and those who already have a Flame Shock debuff from the shaman. Improved Lava Lash no longer increases base Lava Lash damage by 15/30%. This increase has been rolled into the base Lava Lash skill. Mental Quickness has been redesigned. Instead of granting the shaman spell power, Mental Quickness now causes Enhancement shaman spells to behave as though the shaman has spell power equal to 55% of attack power. Enhancement shaman spells no longer benefit from spell power from other sources. Maelstrom Weapon can now also proc from fully absorbed melee attacks. Unleashed Rage: The melee attack power bonus from this raid buff has been increased to 10/20%, up from 5/10%. The ranged attack power bonus remains 5/10%.

It looks like Community Manager Zarhym is clocking some weekend hours, as he’s posted today with what should be a very welcome tidbit for most players: The patch 4.3 PTR is almost ready and could go live with the next week. He also revealed that the PTR will likely have incremental changes. Transmogrification, void storage, and a few UI and balance tweaks will likely show up right away, but it may take some time for the new dungeon and raid content to go live.

What this means for the release of patch 4.3 is a little foggier. Will we be going to BlizzCon with the PTR still chugging away? It sounds like Blizzard’s not planning a rush job on this one, so it remains to be seen. Regardless, you’ll want to keep it right here. As you mentioned, there’s still a lot of work to be done on this patch, so a lot of the content will be rolled onto the test realms over time. Transmogrification, Void Storage, some balance changes, and several UI updates/improvements will likely make the PTR right away. The dungeon/raid content, legendary questline, Dungeon Finder updates, and especially Raid Finder are still very much works in-progress.

Fans of games that tread the line between MMORPG and FPS will be pleased at this news: Today brings the launch of Global Agenda’s Recursive Colony expansion, a free update and the “largest content update in the history” of the game, according to Hi-Rez Studios’ official website. Chief among the new additions is a new mid- to high-level open zone with a storyline and quests meant to provide an alternate leveling experience for more RPG-minded players. Paladins, all of your griping about how paladin armor “doesn’t look like paladin armor” appears to have made a distinct impression with Blizzard artists, who designed patch 4.3′s Battleplate of Radiant Glory just for you. This is the latest in Blizzard’s tier 13 set previews, and definitely one of the best (no cloth to be seen here). Here’s what the artist in charge of the set had to say about its inspirations:

Design requested a set to ‘key off the Guardian of Ancient Kings summon,’ and I thought the concept of ‘feathered’ plate mail, rendered in silver and gold, would create an aggressive, yet sweeping and powerful silhouette. The previous paladin raid set had a good deal of cloth, but we wanted this set to be entirely platemail.

The key to a strong paladin tier is hitting a balance between martial prowess and elegant grace — tapping into that classic Arthurian knight archetype.
