Unlike Grozilla, Crocodaille thinks that size doesn’t matter… Indeed, rare is the Pet that agree to accompany you on all continents, especially when the excursion is supervised by Charlie’s Agents!

But Crocodaille is not one of these shrinking violets! It loves to romp through the jungle, sneaking into a carnivorous plant’s leaves where it might snack on the bones of a dead adventurer.When it is that hot, like on Vulkania, it is necessary to keep cool: not a problem for a cold-blooded Crocodaille! When it comes to exotic treks, this Pet doesn’t fear any danger.

The isle features varying terrain including white sand beaches, tropical jungles, craters, and various caverns, not to mention strange wildlife. Among the new monster species are the sauroshell family and a pet/mount called a madreggon. According to an Ankama press release, “Vulkania is also home to Grozilla and Grasmera, two terrors who are back to shake the World of Twelve once more!”

The release also provides a concise summary of what we can expect from Vulkania aside from its monsters, and amenities include 40 new quests, 13 new equipment items, and 3 new titles.

Located just south of Otomai Island, the Vulkanian archipelago was discovered by two Enutrof geologists, Suze McGraff and Professor Ivan Hartvigg. A brief exploration period uncovered a magnificent place, and the next step seemed obvious – to create a nature park on the island, so that everyone could appreciate its beauty! The unexpected awakening of the lords of the island, Grozilla and Grasmera, however, stopped the project in its tracks, and the organisers had to close the site temporarily. Let’s just say that the amateur spelunkers who had come to the island really hit rock bottom when they stumbled across the gruesome twosome…

Fortunately, Charlie’s Agents arrived at just the right moment and helped with the park’s reopening. Thanks to the addition of one or two extra features, Grozilla and Grasmera have even become Vulkania’s star attraction! As Charlie Endstown-Smisse, leader of the Agents, says, “Every cloud has a silver lining! And so does every pocket…”

Square Enix has released a new video that provides some detail’s on Wakfu’s ecosystem. As the narrator points out, the game’s world is always changing:

“You wield the power to protect or destroy natural resources in an ever-evolving ecosystem. Because
everything you do has lasting impact, Wakfu is never the same world twice. Unlike other massively multiplayer games, this world doesn’t just regenerate resources, it’s always changing.”

To move away from the similarities of Dofus, however, Wakfu has set itself up to take place around 1,000 years after the time of Dofus. The basic story here is that, at some point in those past 1,000 years, there was an all-out war between a super-powerful monster named Ogrest and the 12 Gods of the world. While the reasons behind the fight are a bit complicated, all you really need to know is that while Ogrest won the war, he also ended up losing the woman that he loved, and now he spends the rest of his days on top of the highest mountain the world, crying.

Masqueraiders have three basic masks: the Classic mask, the Cowardly mask and the Psychopath mask. Each mask gives them a bonus and a different style of combat: the spells vary according to the mask. As a result, the Masqueraiders can sometimes be good at long-distance, sometimes close combat, sometimes defensive and sometimes very in your face! In other words, they’re quite unpredictable characters…

With the Cowardly mask, the Masqueraiders hold back and keep the enemy at a distance: harassment type spells (little damage and long range). The Psychopath mask makes them much stronger at close combat: as a result, they have a tendency to jump in head first, dealing substantial damages, but lowering their guard. Finally, the Classic Mask is hit-resistant, but less offensive than the others. To optimise the spells and win fights, you will need to alternate between the different types of spells according to the combat situation and be able to count on your teammates to complement the Masqueraiders abilities.

Do you hear that? That faint yet alluring noise drifting over the MMO plains? ‘Tis the siren song of the free gametime, my child. It twists and turns with the wind, seeking out every nook and cranny where a potential player may be hidden. Few can escape its call, but then again, why would they want to?

Over on the Darkfall forums comes the announcement of a Return to Darkfall campaign aimed at previous players. If you were a Darkfall player before April 2010, Adventurine wants to invite you back for a two-week free play session. North American players also have the option to transfer to the NA server for free during this period. Adventurine is directing NA players to sign back up here, and EU players to head over there.

The 14-day free play offer will end on May 31st, so if you tasted of the fruits of Darkfall in the past and want to see if it’s sweeter today, now is the time to hop back on board!

Dungeons and Dragons Online fans know that the DDO Store has items on sale almost constantly, but rarely does the crew at Turbine mark items down with such enthusiasm.

The normal DDO Store sales usually involve a handful of Adventure Packs and maybe a few other items. This sale, however, includes all Adventure Packs at a 30% discount, as well as an impressive array of other items large and small. Some of the more expensive premium items are discounted — the Drow and Warforged races and the 32-point build — as well as items all the way on the other end of the scale. Cleric Hirelings can be had for as little as 5 Turbine Points, for example. If you’re planning to stock up, keep in mind that the DDO Store only allows you to purchase items appropriate to your character’s current class and level, so you’ll be a bit limited according to your current character roster.

If you’re a fan of the DDO Store or have been considering a purchase, this is a good time to take a look. The sale ends on the 29th.

The DDO Offer Wall launched yesterday, and was met with a very enthusiastic reaction from fans of Dungeons and Dragons Online. Unfortunately, a lot of it was negative.

Players greatest concerns stem from the fact that Turbine is working with SuperRewards, a third party lead generator, for these point opportunities. Giving personal information to an unknown is worrisome, of course, and concerns have grown to the point where some players claim that just looking at the offers page will infect your computer. On the other hand, many players are reporting that they checked out the offers, received their points, and moved on with a computer that was completely unaffected.

Update: Turbine has since added an update post to their forums, giving further information about the program. The Offer Wall has been temporarily removed while Turbine investigates player concerns over email and username security.

Trading rewards for offers in this fashion is nothing new — Runes of Magic does something very similar, and the concept itself goes back years in the form of sites such as MyPoints. So what’s the truth behind this new promotion?
