RIFT players have been speculating about what the much-hyped but little-revealed PvP announcement for the title would be, but now it’s official: RIFT is bringing out three-faction warfare. In a post on the RIFT official site, Trion Worlds has introduced the Conquest PvP mode, which is a “no-holds-barred, interdimensional battle” in which players can choose from one of three factions (the power-hungry Dominion, the noble Oathsworn, and the knowledge-seeking Nightfall) and take part in a three-way battle to answer one poignant question: “What is the role of the Ascended in the cosmos? To rule, to protect, or to ascend?”

Players eager to become a part of the Conquest won’t have to wait long. This Thursday, May 17th, at at 7:00 EDT, Trion will be bringing Conquest to the public test server. All you have to do to get on the action yourself is head on over to the game’s PTS “getting started” page and follow the instructions, and voila. So get out there and prepare for war, Ascended; it’s time to conquer!

RIFT’s patch 1.8: Infernal Dawn goes live

Maelforge and Laethys better be watching their backs because RIFT’s patch 1.8: Infernal Dawn is now live, and players are now able to head into the eponymous Infernal Dawn raid to lay the smack down on the pair of dragon-gods. On top of that, the patch will be ringing in a new world event known as the War of the Wanton Maw, which will presumably involve players fighting back against Maelforge’s Wanton cult and Laethys’ Golden Maw.

If you’re a less combative type, don’t worry. Infernal Dawn is also bringing some more relaxing activities in the form of two new tradeskills. Those looking to spend a calm day on the water can bait a hook and spend an afternoon fishing, while those who want to rough it in the great outdoors can craft food and shelter with the new survival skill. For the full details on what this monumental patch is bringing to the game, just head on over to the official forums to check out the patch notes yourself. Oh, and if you’re curious about what you’re going up against, just click on past the cut for a look at Maelforge and Laethys in the official Infernal Dawn trailer.

RIFT developers answer a new round of community questions

March 29th, 2012

There are a lot of questions within the RIFT community, questions the development team seeks to answer with a new set of responses to community inquiries. Some of the answers are a bit on the negative side; there are no plans to expand the game’s lore into novels, for instance. There are also no plans to add in arena-style combat or the option of visible cloaks, with the developers feeling that the former makes the game seem less massive and the latter has a detrimental impact on game performance.

That doesn’t mean it’s all bad news, however. The developers are looking into more ways to allow cross-faction interaction beyond the mercenary PvP system. There’s also some talk about the next big raid and player feedback, which according to the answers is largely positive. There are also plans for more Souls in the future, which should provide RIFT players with even more options to custom-build a character.

RIFT 1.8: Guild recruitment system preview

March 20th, 2012

If you need some RIFT USA gold, please click here.

RIFT’s upcoming 1.8 patch will come in handy for players still caught in the search for a guild to call home, thanks to the guild recruitment system. Guild leaders will be able to (but don’t have to) post listings to try to attract more players to their guilds. These listings can be customized with such information as the guild’s category (RP, hardcore, PvP, dungeons, raiding, and more), the sort of roles that need to be filled (tank, heal, damage, and support), character level, and play schedule. There’s also a description field that’ll allow leaders to give a more in-depth description of guild services and outlook.

Players will access the guild finder through their social menu and be able to sort through guilds by roles, availability, guild size, and category. They’ll then see all posted information and be able to decide which guild they think is a good fit for them. A message button in the finder screen will allow players to contact guild leaders, and thus shall many happy matches be made.

RIFT players set record for most in-game weddings in one day

It wasn’t but yesterday that we ran our feature on the gaming achievements of the Guinness Book of World Records: Gamer’s Edition 2012, but between then and now, a new MMO-related record has been set. As many of you know, RIFT recently added marriage to its plethora of features, allowing players to make the ultimate commitment in Telara. Well, the ultimate commitment besides joining a raiding guild, at any rate.

A press release today announced that RIFT players banded together with the goal of setting the record for the most in-game marriages in a 24-hour span. We’re not certain what the previous record was if there was one at all, but RIFT players managed to set the bar with a staggering 21,879 marriages performed between noon on February 14th and noon on February 15th. RIFT executive producer and Trion Worlds CCO Scott Hartsman is pleased with the outcome, stating in the press release that “Ascended Weddings were a great way to lift the veil on RIFT’s new ‘Gatherings’ feature, social experiences that bring players together in new and interesting ways.” He goes on to add that “[the studio] looks forward to expanding this great new gameplay element in the always-evolving world of Telara.” So congratulations to all of the lucky couples. Enjoy your new ball-and-chain!

RIFT’s 1.7 patch filled with content, coming soon

What’s next for RIFT? Well, the 1.7 patch, for starters. The update is called Carnival of the Ascended, and if it sounds a bit festive, it is. Telaran weddings are in the offing, as Trion is introducing a marriage mechanic to its fantasy MMO. There’s also the new River of Souls Chronicle, which the official forums bill as an “undead adventure for two.”

A new master mode dungeon is coming too, as is an expert dungeon overhaul with more options and better loot for endgame avatars. Finally, there’s a free weekend coming your way on January 19th, and you can return to Telara (or check it out for the first time) for no charge through January 22nd.

Get your lootables and chatables on with Trion’s new RIFT iOS app

If you want to buy aion kinah, aion gold, aion Powerleveling, please click here.

With little fanfare, Trion Worlds has released an iPhone mobile app this past weekend for RIFT that should make staying in touch with guildies and in-game events far easier for the on-the-go set.

The app is called RIFT Mobile and is currently available for the low, low price of “free.” The app allows RIFT players to talk to friends and guildies whether they’re in-game or also using the app — and yes, there are push notifications if you so desire. The app also supports guild and officer chat, guild messages of the day, zone event notifications, and the guild wall.

Probably the most intriguing feature of the RIFT Mobile app is something called “Lootables” — ways to earn actual in-game loot while using the app. The app is available in English, French and German languages and can be used only by current players of the game. A community rep on the official forums has confirmed that it’s “an early release/beta” and that more official info is on the way.

What we want in Rift beyond the 1.6

Rift players should be happy to choose such a great game. Owing to an excellent develop team; we can meet this awesome game now. We know, as we always know that Trion and Rift’s team have been doing an astounding job adding content and features that we fans want. They possibly can be considered as the hardest working and most efficient live-game staff out there right now. Just look at the sheer amount of stuff they’ve added since the game launched in March and you will know their effort. No matter you like Rift or hate it, there’s no denying the pace and quality of their added content. That’s why we still love them and still play Rift so far. Now the feeling towards Rift is just the same as I’m feeling about mmovalue. It’s a Rift gold store that I love all the time.

Recently, rumors about the v1.6 update have spread everywhere. The Rift team has been hinting around for the last several weeks about big changes coming to the game beginning with the v1.6 update. Discussions about the v1.6 are short but pretty sweet. 1.6 is promising to further revitalize the game’s end-game for those who can’t raid with a whole new zone, oodles of new quests, and in general just a crap-ton more content thrown into the mix. But what can the game do in 1.7 and beyond to keep itself stalwart and steady into 2012? Will you need mmovalue when v1.6 is released?

Trion is the latest development firm to try its hand at a large-scale publishing platform, according to a new company press release issued this morning. The beast is called Red Door, and it “will consist of a consumer platform and a full-scale publishing and development platform based on the proprietary technology fueling Trion’s games.”

What games are those, you might ask?

Well there’s RIFT, of course, and the company is also developing End of Nations and Defiance. Red Door aims to allow third-parties to build and run games of similar scope via “fast real-time updates and versatile monetization models.” Trion CEO Lars Buttler says that the company’s goal is to “revolutionize premium games and help the industry realize its potential in the connected era.”

RIFT veteran 1.5 update coming

September 20th, 2011

Source: RIFT vet rewards

It’s somewhat wonky to think about veteran rewards for an MMORPG that’s barely six months old, but nonetheless Trion is trotting out various incentives to keep players subscribing to RIFT and adventuring through the wilds of Telara with in-game shinies in tow.

Beginning with the game’s 1.5 update, “being a veteran Ascended means honor, respect, and awesome rewards,” according to the informational blurb on RIFT’s website. We’ll leave the honor and respect bit to your fertile imaginations, but the awesome rewards are quite tangible. They include full Guardian and Defiant uniforms, personal vendors, and on-the-go mailboxes. You can also buy your way to full veteran status (and unlock the high tier rewards immediately) by purchasing a multi-month subscription.

Look for more details in our upcoming interview with Trion.

Riftgame:The Wanton

September 19th, 2011

Stifle the raging flames of the Wanton, the monstrous and barbaric cult of Maelforge. Goblins, gnolls, centaurs, devils, Dragonians, and worse all surge from the Fire Rifts, covering Telara like a flood of flame. The easiest cult to understand, they are in many ways the hardest to stop. Like a fire, once they begin to burn, the Wanton only spread, devastating the landscape with reckless abandon.
