If you’re looking forward to TERA but sad about missing En Masse’s demo of the fantasy MMO at last weekend’s PAX East, cheer up!

The firm has just released a recap video that’s almost as good as being there. It was a big week overall for TERA, and the reveals included an A-list voice cast, snippets about the launch head-start period, dungeon finder and economic tweaks, and the lush Twilight Valley region showcased at PAX.

TERA’s PAX demo pitted players against wave after wave of argons and big-ass monsters, not to mention a nasty cuss called Subject 5005. Players who were able to whittle the boss’s health down were then given a further challenge when 5005 transformed into an Argonomorph (yeah, we’re not sure what that is either, but you can see it via the video after the cut).

It’s almost time for Star Wars: The Old Republic players to begin forging their legacies. BioWare announced today that the game’s patch 1.2: Legacy update will be hitting the live servers this Thursday, April 12th, which will certainly come as welcome news to fans of the title.

In addition to the next steps of the game’s Legacy system, which our own Larry Everett has covered previously, the patch will also be bringing a wealth of new content for PvE and PvP players alike. For the former crowd, BioWare is adding a new Flashpoint known as The Lost Island and the new Explosive Conflict Operation. Players in the latter camp will be able to get their player-vs.-player jollies in the new Novare Coast Warzone, which pits Empire against Republic in a capture-and-control gametype. And of course, players of all playstyles will finally be able to tweak and customize their UIs as it suits their playstyles. For the full details on the upcoming patch and its corresponding maintenance, just head on over to the official site.

Wizard101 prepares to send players to Avalon

Wizard101 always sends its players to fantastic new places with each expansion. Obviously the bar is set pretty high when the core game already features a magical setting, but each new zone seems to aim at a very different location. The upcoming new expansion Avalon is no exception; it’s sending players into a realm filled with fallen knights, warrior queens, and other elements inspired by Arthurian and Celtic myths. It also gives players a chance to explore the pasts of several important lore characters, such as the villainous Morganthe.

But lore alone doesn’t make for a fun expansion. Avalon also offers players four new utility spells per school, new pets and mounts, and six new zones to explore as characters head to the new level cap of 80. There are also new gardening levels and new gardening spells, certain to bring a smile to the face of every burgeoning virtual botanist. So if you feel like you’ve seen all there is to see in Wizard101, don’t worry — that’ll change soon enough.

Last week we told you about En Masse’s casting of Colonel Tigh, er, Michael Hogan for voice-acting work in its new TERA MMO. Now the company brings word that Claudia Black will be joining Hogan in the recording studio to bring aspects of TERA’s fantasy story to life.

Hogan will lend his talents to the Valkyon Federation’s formidable Commander Samael, while Black (best known for her role as Aeryn Sun in Farscape, as well as voice-acting stints in Dragon Age and the Uncharted series) brings her considerable charms to the role of Commander Freya of Allemantheia.

If you want to see Hogan in action behind the mic, check out the clip after the break. Finally, En Masse says to keep your eyes and ears peeled for more TERA voice-acting reveals later this month.

Mike Capps: Epic Games has a PC-exclusive game in the works

Gears of War and Fortnite dev Epic Games is getting back to its roots with a PC-exclusive project, creative lead Cliff Bleszinski and president Mike Capps announced today during a PAX East panel. “We might be working on a PC-only title,” Capps teased, before Bleszinski picked up where he left off: “Let me say that again: we are working on a PC game.”

The panel is still going on, but we’ll be sure to chat to the Epic folks as soon as it’s over.

Update: Epic Games prez Mike Capps told us after the panel that the unannounced PC project is currently underway, and that the current plans are to keep the game exclusive to the PC platform. Unsurprisingly, he wouldn’t tell us anything else.

Each Borderlands DLC pack was made in eight weeks

Borderlands 2 art director Jeramy Cooke and concept designer Scott Kester both worked on the first Borderlands, and they shrug off accomplishments such as “made Borderlands” with considerable humility. When Cooke mentioned casually that every piece of DLC for the first title was created in just eight weeks each, we stopped him for clarification.

“You don’t understand, those first DLCs, we were literally counting K to try and fit features in there because at the time we hadn’t expected it to be such a huge success, so we didn’t know that ‘oh, we’ll have to put all this DLC in,’” Cooke said during a meeting at PAX East 2012.

This development time is impressive considering the heft of each pack, but also because Gearbox hadn’t prepared the full game to handle add-on content.

“It was the first time the company had ever done DLC, but we were like, damn it, if we’re going to do it, let’s do it,” Kester said. And so they did.

Borderlands 2 is the second time Gearbox can attempt DLC and it has implemented a robust backend system to support whatever additional content it needs, including patches and support updates. With this improved system maybe Gearbox can beat its previous record and build one piece of 20-hour DLC in just 2 hours.

SWTOR Community Q&A: April 6th 2012 (Game Update 1.2 Special)

This week’s Q&A continues on from last week where we answered a number of questions about Game Update 1.2. We had so many questions we broke the Q&A into two parts! Next week we’ll return to answering more general questions you might have. We’ll open a Forum thread for you to contribute as normal.

As a reminder, two weeks ago we suggested a shift in focus in your questions. As development plans are always subject to change, questions about future features will often get vague answers which can be repetitive and sometimes annoying. With that in mind, the development team is more interested in questions about current in-game features or systems, or questions about why development decisions were made. You’re still welcome to ask questions about future features and we’ll continue to answer them where appropriate – just expect the occasional ‘soon.’

Thangunis: Soon I will hit level 50 and was wondering what to do with my commendations. If I understand correctly the new Recruit gear set is more PVP oriented and has less PvE stats? Is the old gear worth buying or should I wait for the new Recruit? I would like to buy Battlemaster directly with commendations but I can only have 1000 commendations, right?

Shepard will look like his/her old self next week when BioWare flips the switch on the Mass Effect 3 patch, which is expected to resolve many of the most requested problems with the space opera. No, the ending is not one of them.

The patch will go live on April 9 for PC and April 10 for Xbox 360 and PS3. The big fix for Mass Effect veterans will be to Shepard’s facial features coming from Mass Effect 1 and 2, which should now import properly into the trilogy’s conclusion. Several game-crashing bugs and online issues have also been addressed.

Gears of War: Exile was once a thing, isn’t a thing anymore

Way back in January 2011, a trademark for Gears of War: Exile surfaced on the US Patent and Trademark office website. Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski has revealed the studio was working on a project named that, but that it has since been canned.

“Let’s just bury the hatchet now,” he told Gamespot here at PAX East. “Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can’t give any details about that has since been cancelled.” Outside of the existence of the trademark, there really isn’t any other information.

Some speculated Gears of War: Exile was to be a Kinect title and an on-rails experience, but without any further information from Epic it looks like we’re left to speculate on what could’ve been.

New Diablo III launch site collapses under the weight of fans

If you want to buy some wow gold or wow item, please click here.

With just over a month left until Diablo III is released, Blizzard launched its new Darkness Falls, Heroes Rise minisite to get people excited. Fans can enter an art contest with some big prizes or create a banner to unlock an exclusive in-game banner sigil that will never be given away outside this event. The site is one big social media campaign, with exclusive content that unlocks when players share enough contest entries on Facebook and Twitter. Fansite DiabloFans revealed that the unlocks will include developer diaries, wallpapers and more. Once the share meter reaches 100%, a final epic unveiling will occur that Blizzard’s Bashiok says “is going to melt people’s brain meats.”

When the site first launched, fans reported everything from PHP errors to lost connections and 404 pages. The site has since been stabilised but doesn’t appear to be working as intended. The galleries are no longer updating, confirmation emails are not being sent for entries, and the unlock level hasn’t budged from 0%. As we’ll need just under 3% per day to meet the 100% goal, players are concerned that if the meter isn’t broken, then expectations may have been set too high.

Newest Ask Cryptic for Star Trek Online takes a look at the road ahead

There’s a great big galaxy out there in Star Trek Online, so much so that some things occasionally fall through the cracks. The latest installment of Ask Cryptic focuses on a few of these elements, like the Andorian ship and the addition of a playable Romulan faction. Neither of these elements is on the table for immediate inclusion, but both are in the pipe for future updates; the former is planned for sometime the next year, while the Romulans are on the more distant horizon.

Not everything comes down to a simple “not right now,” however. The KDF, for instance, is slated to continue receiving new updates and additional features to bring the faction more in line with the Federation’s content level. The development team is also hard at work trying to allow older ships to be retrofitted into higher-level content, letting players take classic designs into modern engagements. It’s certainly not a question of whether the development team has a plan or not, just a matter of how soon all of these fabled upgrades will be implemented.

Introducing Halo 4′s Cortana

You have to wonder why Master Chief – essentially a sexless cyborg – has a voluptuous female counterpart, but it’s a bit late in the Halo franchise to be asking such questions. Instead, we simply accept that the Chief’s virtual partner-in-heroism will once again return in this fall’s Halo 4, and now we know what she looks like (care of the latest Game Informer cover reveal, as seen above).

Given the conclusion of Halo 3, we were kinda expecting the Chief’s blue buddy to have a straitjacket wrapped around her projected avatar, but perhaps that and more will be explained when the game arrives later this year.

Oh, and for comparison’s sake, we’ve dropped an image of Halo 3′s Cortana just below the break. Her newer likeness is kinda … less blue? A bit? That’s all we got.
