Realm Status: Coming back online

December 8th, 2009

Not that this should be unexpected, but maintenance has been extended today by at least one hour. There is no indication as to what’s caused the downtime to linger on longer than it has to.

We’ll keep this post updated and time-stamped with the latest news. You’ll only need to look here to know.

6:45 p.m. EST: There is still no ETA on the fix. Downtime will continue for the time being. Another update will be provided in an hour. In addition to the game being down, the forums are down, the Blizzard store appears to be having issues, and the official Warcraft website is loading extremely slow. WoW.com is handling the excess traffic fine, thankfully, so we should be able to continue to provide you with any updates we get.

7:05 p.m. EST: We are getting reports that some realms are up. Your mileage may vary.

Older updates are after the break.

2:13 p.m. EST: Maintenance extended, update in one hour. (source)

3:10 p.m. EST: Realms are still down, and the official WoW forums appear to be down as well. Expect some more downtime.

3:25 p.m. EST: Still no ETA on having the realms up, but according to the Warcraft twitter they will provide another update in an hour.

4:00 p.m. EST: Many realms are coming up online now.

4:03 p.m. EST: According to the Warcraft twitter account, all realms should be playable within the next hour.

4:13 p.m. EST: Many many players are now reporting being stuck at the loading screen. The loading bar will get to the end, and then their computer will just hang there. No word from Blizzard yet.

4:15 p.m. EST: Blizzard has confirmed there is a problem which is keeping players stuck in the loading screen. No fix for it at the moment. It looks like it’s an issue for everyone, although we don’t know for certain yet.

4:47 p.m. EST: Most (all?) Players are now getting stuck at connected.

5:10 p.m. EST: There is still no resolution, or any update to give.

5:15 p.m. EST: It seems that now some people can connect, but are being disconnected as soon as they go to their realm.

5:45 p.m. EST: According to the Warcraft twitter there is still no resolution to the problem. Blizzard will provide another update in an hour. Some people are able to log onto the realms, but immediately get disconnected again.

6:15 p.m. EST: We’ve received dozens of reports that the Blizzard store is having issues selling the authenticators. Looks like you might have to wait awhile to get one if you’re buying it to get the in-game core hound pup.

Rolling restarts and maintenance for June 23rd

June 22nd, 2009

I was pleasantly surprised to see the maintenance announcement for tomorrow morning available fairly early today. Most of the time, we don’t actually know whether there will be maintenance or not until pretty late in the evening. Or I’m imagining that and this is the time we see it every week, who knows!

Daytime players will be happy to hear that most realms are only getting rolling restarts. They’ll be started at 5:00 AM PDT on North American realms and 10:00 AM PDT for Oceanic realms. There are a fair number of servers being hit with a real maintenance period, but it’s only expected to take a few hours: Starting at 5:00 AM PDT and lasting until 8:00 AM PDT. Those realms are: Area 52, Arena Tournament 1, Arena Tournament 2, Auchindoun, Azuremyst, Blade’s Edge, Blood Furnace, Coilfang, Dawnbringer, Exodar, Fizzcrank, Galakrond, Ghostlands, Grizzly Hills, Shattered Halls, Terokkar, The Scryers, The Underbog, Velen, and Zangarmarsh.

If you’re not sure what those times are in your time zone, the World Clock is a pretty simple tool to help you figure it out.

As always, MMOVALUE.com will be here throughout the morning and afternoon should anything come up during maintenance. It’s not a patch day, so we can be reasonably sure nothing will come up, but you never know.

Maintenance for Tuesday May 19th

May 19th, 2009

Last week’s maintenance saw a larger number of servers go down for an extended time in order to receive some hardware upgrades. This week it’s the same game with a new batch of servers.

For those realms who are not getting a hardware upgrade, maintenance will run from 3:00 a.m. PDT until 11:00 a.m. PDT. Just another week, nothing special to see here, move along.

For those realms who are getting the server upgrade, maintenance will run from 3:00 a.m. PDT until 1:00 p.m. PDT. Last week the maintenance ran over by a bit on the realms that were receiving hardware work, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that be the case again this week.

The list of realms undergoing these hardware upgrades after the break.

Area 52
Auchindoun
Azuremyst
Blade’s Edge
Blood Furnace
Coilfang
Dawnbringer
Exodar
Fizzcrank
Galakrond
Ghostlands

Patch 3.1.1a coming during tomorrow’s maintenance

April 27th, 2009

Patch 3.1.1a, which we previously covered last week, will be coming during tomorrow’s extended maintenance. This is according to a small update Crygil gave this evening.

While we don’t have the full patch notes yet, Patch 3.1.1a will just correct small issues that cannot be hot-fixed into the game. Notably, the tooltip to the Paladin’s Exorcism ability will be updated to reflect that it cannot be used on players.

Realms will be down from 3:00 a.m. PDT / 6:00 a.m. EDT until 11:00 a.m. PDT / 2:00 p.m. EDT. We’ll let you know when they’re up, and if there will be any additional extended maintenance.

Maintenance continues to be extended, no time frame given

April 14th, 2009

Today’s epic maintenance to apply patch 3.1, which has stretched from 1 AM for some realms and 3 AM for others, has been additionally extended. Originally, the realms were supposed to go live at 11 AM PDT; that time has come and gone, and been pushed back a few times.

The latest update, posted to the Breaking News box a few minutes ago, is that they do not currently have an ETA on when the realms will be up, and they’ll give us some more information at about 2 PM PDT, which is in 45 minutes or so.

Update 5:15 p.m. EDT: The realms continue to be down, with the in-game message now telling us that there will be an announcement at 6:00 p.m. EDT letting us all know more information.

Update 6:15 p.m. EDT: Maintenance is continuing on all realms. There is no time frame given as to when the realms will be back up, however there will be an additional announcement at 7:00 p.m. EDT. Stay tuned to WoW Insider for more information. Additionally, the official forums and account management appear to be intermittently down now as well.
